Hello! My name is Kari J Young and I am an artist and maker who has a passion for making many things.
I recently moved back to the Portland area to be closer to family and to continue with my creative career.
On my website you will find original paintings, sketches, giclée prints (a technology for fine art or photograph reproduction using a high-quality inkjet printer to make individual copies.) and other items that have my artwork on them such as mugs, pillows, etc.
My artwork is currently inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds me. Wildlife like elk herds that make their way up and down the coast playfully splashing in the ocean waves, the ocean creatures themselves like sand dollars, sealion, whales, seastars, seajellies, turns, eagles, the great soaring/diving pelican, deer and even cougar. The weathered, tougher-than-crap locals who grew up here working in the canneries and on boats fishing and crabbing and make a living the best way they know how. And coastal living here at the confluence of the Columbia River (the second largest river in the Northern Hemisphere) into the Pacific Ocean.
The sunsets are amazing here and the weather is often wicked and wild with the blues of the river and ocean waters different every single day.
